What does hell actually mean? According to the dictionary hell is “the place or state of punishment of the wicked after death”. In fact, this is what most people believe nowadays, but how can we be totally sure? Is there a real hell where we are supposed to be sent to? Or is it something else? Could it be just a little trick invented by the church to keep us under control? This is the moment to open our eyes, once and for all. In our essay we will try to discover the truth.
The Roman Catholic Church established its power in the centuries IV and V. At the beginning Christians were a disorganized group of people that were not in agreement about what they believe in. Because of this, the church was in charge of deciding what people should think or not to think. Therefore they were able to control the faith of the believers by creating an eternal punishment. Hell was created to manage people’s thoughts, the church simply told them that they would suffer if they did not follow the rules that they were imposing. Obviously people have bought this lie until now because, as we can see, they are still afraid of going to hell if they do not accept the laws that the church commands.
On the other hand, nowadays, we can observe how the church has completely changed its strategy. It is amazing the way in what common beliefs are being destroyed and rebuilt into new ones. It seems that the church is adapting to the 21st century world. For example, recently, it was said that Hell does not exist anymore. How can we trust in an extremely changeable religion? Is this their new way of controlling us? The church has become like politicians, they say exactly what we want to hear, even though, most of the time it’s just a lie.
However, there is a perspective that we haven’t considered yet and this is that hell is not a place where we are going to, but the place where we are. Is seems evident if we realize that hell is really on Earth. Because, all over the world, we are able to see poverty, suffering, injustice, famine, violence, murders, violations of the human rights and other aspects that we could enumerate forever. So, is there something worst than this? We do not think that it could be worst than now. Therefore we are actually living in hell.
Finally, we can conclude that hell exists. But it is not a place of burning flames in another life after death. Hell is where we are living today and where we will stay until we finally die. Consequently, the other hell has been invented by the Church to have power over us and to administer every thought that is in our minds. In a nutshell, there is no hell on fire; there is only hell on Earth.

Hell doesn't exist
Hell doesn't exist, neither heaven.
