Loneliness, inner emptiness, mental disorders, low self-esteem these are the results of an alcoholic addiction. However, people tend to ignore these consequences until it is too late. They are trapped in a never-ending vicious circle, which originates one the biggest problems in our society. How can we stop this? When will it finish? Why do people fall in this brutal sin? . In this essay, we are going to search the explanation of this awful illness.
Most of alcohol dependants tend to come from “Broken Homes”. It is a fact that people who spent their childhood in families which had cases of violence or emotional breaks are usually in the border line of adquiring an alcoholic addiction. Therefore, these sort of individuals developt behavior disorders that lead them to take refuge in an alcoholic shelter. Once in there, it is very difficult to make this people accept they have a problem and thus ask for help.
On the other hand, families that have a good emotional structure also can raise children to become alcoholics. How can this be possible? By being a bad role model. Several parents believe they are “cool” because they incitate their children to drink. However, instead of helping them, they are stimulating them to believe that drinking is good and has no consequences in their organism and in their life. Apparently, they are not concious of what they are really doing, they just think: “If my parents say so, it must be right”.
Other causes of becoming an addict of this appallingly addiction, is the necesity for beocming part of a group, for being a part of society. For the same reason they want to be accepted and admired and even though they know what they are doing is wrong they still do it without measuring the consequences, only because they desire to avoid their own reality. Furthermore, these people believe that they are not different from the rest and they look hopeless to be special, and they suppose drinking is the best way of accomplishing this.
In a nutshell, we may conclude that they are several causes of becoming an alcoholic addict, but these can be avoid by having a healthy family nucleus and a good moral formation, including the teaching of values, respect for our body and our mind and others. In any case, we have to remember that we are all human beings and that we do not need to spend our lifes hiding behind a glass of alcohol to be appreciated.
